Position Summary
The Admissions Nurse position will work closely with Intake and unit staff to coordinate and facilitate the safe and efficient admission of patients accepted to the facility.
- Perform level of care assessments on walk-in patients and nursing assessments on direct admit patients
- Use the EMR system and admission packet to complete necessary intake documentation and consents
- Conduct thorough assessments of new patients including gathering detailed medical and psychiatric histories, current medications, allergies, and legal status
- Coordinate with intake, the psychiatrist, and unit nurse to ensure all appropriate precautions are ordered and proper documentation is in place
- Pass on all relevant information to the receiving nurse to ensure a safe handoff of all incoming patients
Qualifications
- Michigan RN license
- Hospital experience required
- Psychiatric hospital experience strongly preferred
- Willing to work evenings/nights/weekend rotation
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team
- Experience working with an EMR
