Job description

This is what you will do:

The Associate Director, Trade & Specialty Pharmacy Analytics serves as the analytical expert for specialty pharmacy, distribution, inventory, and trade partner performance. This individual transforms complex data into actionable insights that inform business decisions, support patient access, optimize channel performance, and strengthen portfolio execution across both in-market and future products.

As a trusted individual-contributor expert, this role works closely with Trade & Distribution Strategy leadership and cross-functional partners to proactively identify trends, risks, and opportunities. The role provides data-driven input to launch planning and channel strategy while maintaining clear ownership of recurring analytics, partner performance reviews, payment validation, inventory monitoring, and ad hoc business questions. This role is based in Boston, MA and reports to the Head, US Trade & Distribution Strategy.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading analyses of specialty pharmacy, specialty distribution, wholesaler, inventory, and channel performance data to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions
  • Serving as the subject matter expert for Trade and Specialty Pharmacy analytics, helping stakeholders interpret complex data and understand the business implications
  • Developing analyses and insights that support launch planning, launch readiness, channel strategy decisions, and ongoing optimization of distribution and specialty pharmacy networks across the portfolio
  • Owning the analytical development and delivery of Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and other partner performance reviews, translating findings into clear discussion points and actionable recommendations for the Channel Accounts team and leadership
  • Monitoring inventory levels across Specialty Pharmacies, Specialty Distributors (SDs) and wholesalers; identifying unusual trends, short-dated inventory, or discrepancies; and partnering with appropriate stakeholders to investigate and resolve issues
  • Validating quarterly Direct Sales Agreement (DSA) payments and related performance calculations to support accurate, timely, and compliant administration of trade agreements
  • Evaluating trade partner effectiveness, including specialty pharmacy and distributor operations, patient access trends, service performance, inventory dynamics, and agreement performance
  • Responding to strategic and ad hoc business questions by framing the analytical approach, integrating relevant data sources, assessing limitations, and communicating a clear point of view
  • Proactively identifying emerging channel risks and opportunities and escalating findings with appropriate context, implications, and recommended next steps
  • Creating and continually improving dashboards, reporting, analytical frameworks, and repeatable processes that increase visibility, efficiency, and confidence in decision-making
  • Partnering cross-functionally with Market Access, Channel Accounts, Patient Services, Finance, Contracting, Commercial, Supply Chain, Data, and other teams to align analyses with business priorities
  • Communicating complex analyses clearly and concisely to senior and non-technical audiences, including key assumptions, uncertainties, implications, and recommendations

You will need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance, analytics, health sciences, pharmacy, or another relevant field
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in specialty pharmacy, healthcare or trade consulting, pharmaceutical trade or distribution, market access, channel analytics, commercial analytics, or a related field
  • Demonstrated understanding of U.S. specialty pharmacy, specialty distribution, wholesaler, patient access, reimbursement, and trade partner business models and operations
  • Proven ability to work with large and complex datasets, develop sound analytical approaches, identify meaningful patterns, and translate findings into business recommendations
  • Experience evaluating channel or partner performance through recurring reporting, business reviews, operational metrics, financial analyses, or ad hoc strategic work
  • Strong business acumen and curiosity, with the ability to move beyond describing what happened to explain why it happened, what it means, and what action should be considered
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills, including the ability to make complex analyses understandable to senior and non-technical stakeholders
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with experience creating decision-ready analyses and executive-level narratives
  • Ability to operate independently, prioritize competing demands, maintain strong attention to detail, and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced, highly accountable environment
  • Collaborative working style and the ability to build credibility and influence across functions without direct authority
  • Strong patient-focused mindset and commitment to using analytics to improve business performance and support patient access
  • Ability to travel up to 15%, as required

  • Experience within a specialty pharmacy, pharmaceutical trade or channel consulting organization, healthcare consulting firm, specialty distributor, or biopharmaceutical manufacturer
  • Experience with rare disease, high-cost specialty products, limited distribution networks, product launches, or complex patient access models
  • Experience working with specialty pharmacy, distribution, inventory, claims, patient services, or agreement-performance datasets
  • Experience with data visualization, business intelligence, query, or automation tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Alteryx, or comparable platforms
  • Experience conducting quantitative and qualitative assessments of complex business proposals, network options, partner performance, or contracting scenarios
