UnityPoint Health is actively recruiting for a Cardiology/Critical Care APP to join our team in Des Moines, IA.
Responsibilities
- Provide routine care and management of the hospitalized patient in critical care and general cardiology, in collaboration with other members of the health care team
- Evaluate and treat patients, including history taking, pertinent physical exam, ordering and evaluating lab/diagnostic studies, and ordering medications & treatments
- Document findings in accurate, systematic form and maintain appropriate documentation in the medical record
- Utilize data to identify areas of improvement, monitor progress, and design/implement initiatives to improve care of the critical care and cardiology patient
- Effectively communicate and interact with patients, families, staff, and members of the community from diverse backgrounds
- Recognize situations requiring immediate physician attention and initiate life-saving procedures when necessary
- Maintain and develop own skill and knowledge in critical care and cardiology
- Provide specialty-specific patient-family teaching and counseling based on needs and in collaboration with the care team
- Ability to work 5-6 shifts in a pay period (combination of day and night shifts)
- Perform procedures in the critical care patient (e.g., intubation, ventilator management, arterial line placement, central line placement) following education, precepting, and proctoring
- Participate in the Rapid Response Team (RRT)
Qualifications
- Physician Associate, or Master's or Doctorate Degree as an ARNP in the area of Adult-Gero Acute Care
- If NP, one or more years' experience as a nurse in critical care
- Current Iowa License to practice as RN and ARNP
- BCLS & ACLS
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to communicate effectively
Requirements
