Job description
What you will do
- Operates buses, cars, and other assigned vehicles in accordance with Florida commercial driving requirements and safety standards.
- Safely transports patients, staff, visitors, and materials while utilizing specialized equipment such as handicapped lift gates and towing systems as required.
- Conducts pre-shift vehicle inspections to identify safety concerns, maintenance needs, or potential breakdown risks and reports findings promptly.
- Maintains a strong focus on safety, accident prevention, and protection of passengers, vehicles, and property.
- Completes assigned transportation tasks with urgency while maintaining punctuality and readiness at the start of each shift.
- Manages time and vehicle usage efficiently to conserve resources and support operational needs.
- Maintains assigned vehicles through proper operation, care, and reporting to minimize damage and service disruptions.
- Responds appropriately to emergency situations and changing conditions while ensuring public health and safety.
- Communicates effectively with supervisors, dispatch, passengers, and team members to coordinate transportation services.
- Supports departmental goals through professionalism, reliability, and adherence to established procedures and standards.
Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
Licenses and Certifications
- FL Drivers License
- Department of Transportation Medical Certificate
Experience Qualifications
- A current Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger Endorsement
- Drivers may not have more than seven (7) points on their driver’s license
- Certain infractions may disqualify drivers automatically at management discretion
- Six (6) months of experience operating large motor vehicle equipment, including trucks and/or buses
