Job description
Responsibilities
- Accurately enter prescription orders, patient information, and insurance details into the pharmacy database system.
- Verify the completeness and correctness of data before processing to ensure compliance with pharmacy protocols.
- Collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare staff to clarify prescription details and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of patient records in accordance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
- Assist in inventory management by updating stock levels and reporting discrepancies to the pharmacy team.
- Support daily pharmacy operations by preparing reports and documentation as needed.
- Communicate effectively with insurance providers to verify coverage and resolve billing issues.
Requirements
- Must be a State Licensed Pharmacy Technician to perform fulfilment or compounding activities
- Previous experience in data entry or pharmacy technician role preferred
- Basic knowledge of pharmacy terminology and prescription processing
- Familiarity with pharmacy software systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data handling
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from an accredited program
- Experience working in a retail or hospital pharmacy environment
- Knowledge of insurance billing procedures and pharmacy benefit management
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
- Strong communication skills to interact with healthcare professionals and patients
