Director, Commercial Planning & Execution
Olympus Corporation of the Americas
Summary
The US Gastrointestinal business is in a decisive phase: rebuilding market leadership, installing a data-driven operating rhythm, elevating customer relationships to the C-suite level, and preparing for a multi-year pipeline of launches. This role is the force multiplier who makes that agenda run: a trusted right hand to the US GI business leader who owns the operating cadence of the business, drives strategic initiatives from concept to implementation, and represents the business leader with executives and customers when needed.
Job description
Strategy & Executive Enablement
- Act as strategic advisor and execution engine for the business leader's agenda — translating enterprise priorities into regional execution plans and measurable business outcomes.
- Serve as strategic advisor to senior commercial and operational leadership; translate enterprise and business-unit priorities into US execution plans with clear owners, timelines, and measures.
- Own the leadership operating rhythm: weekly priorities and follow-through, leadership-team meeting cadence, decision logs, and the tracking of commitments made to and by senior management.
- Lead executive-level business reviews — synthesizing complex market, customer, and performance data into actionable recommendations for senior leadership and board-level stakeholders.
- Drive strategic initiatives from concept through implementation (examples in scope today: ambulatory-surgery-center market strategy, market-data and share-intelligence build-up, coverage-model innovation), coordinating cross-functional stakeholders and ensuring alignment on objectives, timelines, and outcomes.
- Build executive communications and leadership presentations that support decision-making, organizational alignment, and change management.
- Prepare the business leader for global governance forums (executive round tables, business reviews) — owning the inputs, the pre-reads, and the follow-ups so that the US position is always current and never surprising.
Sales Support & Commercial Operations
- Own the end-to-end US GI forecasting process: the weekly cadence from CRM pipeline discipline (inputs locked Thursdays), through the Friday commercial forecast call with sales and finance (orders view, confidence tiers, deal-type splits), to the revenue conversion with finance — including supply constraints and revenue-deferral effects — and the executive submission and materials, complete by Friday afternoon.
- Develop forecasting models, performance dashboards, and executive reporting frameworks that support strategic planning, investment decisions, and organizational accountability.
- Champion the global forecasting methodology and tools in the US, partnering with the global sales-excellence function, and enrich them with US commercial judgment — one system, no shadow processes.
- Drive pipeline quality and CRM discipline with the area and regional sales leadership; make forecast accuracy a measured, improving capability.
- Coordinate the operational calendar of the commercial organization: sales leadership meetings, national meeting content, compensation-cycle inputs, hiring and backfill tracking, and cross-functional handoffs with finance, supply chain, service, and marketing.
- Identify revenue and order upside systematically — own the analytical view of where growth can be pulled forward, and bring options to the table, not just numbers.
