Job description

Position Summary

Bristol Myers Squibb is reimagining both the delivery model and organization behind Commercialization Data & AI. The strategy is to build more capability internally and reduce reliance on vendor partners. This includes a migration to Databricks and a hiring plan of approximately 40 roles globally, supporting an expected annual savings of more than $10 million.

Given the scale and complexity of this transformation, the Director, Commercialization Data & AI Transformation leads the Transformation Program Office for Commercialization Data & AI. This role owns hiring plan execution, migration milestones, and vendor transition outcomes. It drives these to completion rather than just tracking them. The Commercialization Data & AI Transformation lead partners closely with the Head of Commercialization Data & AI Delivery, coordinating dependencies and driving accountability so the program stays on track to deliver its intended outcomes. The Director, Commercialization Data & AI Transformation reports to the Executive Director, Commercialization Data & AI. This role will build a small team to support program execution as the organization scales.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Transformation Program Office for Commercialization Data & AI, a multi-year effort spanning approximately 40 hires globally in support of an expected $10 million in annual savings
  • Own hiring plan execution across the full organization, resolving blockers that threaten the schedule
  • Own delivery of platform migration milestones and vendor transition commitments, providing strategic feedback on vendor performance and influencing delivery approach at the leadership level
  • Assess the viability of transformation workstreams and recommend to the Executive Director and Head of Commercialization Data & AI Delivery where scope should expand, pause, or stop
  • Escalate and resolve risks before they affect the transformation timeline
  • Build and lead a team to support program execution as the organization scales
  • Own resource and budget allocation decisions for the Transformation Program Office as it scales
  • Advise the Executive Director and Head of Commercialization Data & AI Delivery on organizational priorities and sequencing decisions
  • Drive coordination across Platform Engineering, AI/ML & Analytics, Technical Product Owner, and Transparency & CI functions
  • Represent the transformation program in executive and cross-functional leadership forums
  • Use independent judgment to resolve issues directly rather than escalating by default

Qualifications & Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in program leadership, chief of staff, or operations leadership, including at least 5+ years in a people leadership capacity
  • A track record of owning outcomes, not just coordinating activity, across hiring, vendor management, and technical delivery at the same time
  • A proven track record influencing outcomes in a matrix environment without direct reporting authority
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills across both strategic and detailed operational work
  • Demonstrated credibility with senior leadership and sound judgment on what to escalate and what to resolve directly
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience representing a program to senior leadership
  • Experience in a regulated industry (pharma, life sciences, financial services, or healthcare) is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree a plus
