About the Team

Within this group, the Integrated Kidney Care (IKC) Account Management team supports a national portfolio of value-based care partnerships, serving as the trusted partner and subject matter expert for a highly complex patient population.

The Role

As the Director of Value-Based Care Strategic Payor Account Management, you are a highly visible, external-facing leader who owns the strategic leadership, growth, and performance of DaVita's national portfolio of value-based care partnerships. You serve as both the day-to-day leadership voice of DaVita to national and regional health plans, health systems, and Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), and the primary internal champion for the voice of the customer. You will directly lead, mentor, and elevate a team of Managers and supporting analysts, while driving seamless cross-functional alignment across DaVita's clinical, actuarial, finance, operations, and business development lanes.

Core Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Strategy & Growth Innovation: Lead overall account strategy, relationship health, and portfolio retention across national and regional VBC accounts. Proactively champion growth innovation by identifying, exploring, and structuring expansion opportunities with existing partners (e.g., Special Needs Plans, earlier-stage CKD programs, integrated payer-provider alignment models, and new geographic markets). Support contract renewals and scope expansions in partnership with Business Development and Contract Transaction teams.
  • Voice of the Payor & Strategic Advisory: Serve as the trusted strategic advisor to health plan leadership and the primary internal advocate for customer needs. Synthesize partner feedback, market trends, and payor strategic objectives to influence DaVita's internal clinical, operational, and product roadmaps.
  • Performance & Value Delivery: Oversee account-level clinical and financial performance. Translate actuarial, clinical, and financial data into clear executive narratives demonstrating DaVita's value and identifying joint levers for continuous improvement.
  • Governance & JOC Leadership: Set the strategic agenda for and lead executive governance meetings and Joint Operating Committees (JOCs), proactively managing escalations and driving cross-entity operational follow-through.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate closely with Business Development, Clinical Operations, Actuarial, Finance, Legal, and Risk Adjustment to launch new partnership capabilities, operationalize joint initiatives, and support commercial structuring.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Account Management Managers and analysts, fostering consultative problem-solving, strategic ownership, and professional growth.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, health plans, healthcare start-ups, or provider-led value-based care organizations.
  • Proven track record of presenting to, influencing, and building trusted consultative relationships with senior executives across partner organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to structure and solve complex business problems, identify commercial and growth opportunities, and translate strategic concepts into execution.
  • Direct people management and coaching experience, including managing Manager-level direct reports.
  • Strong analytical synthesis and storytelling skills; proficient in PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA, MHA, or equivalent advanced degree preferred.

Preferred Qualifications & Success Factors

  • Deep experience in value-based care, risk-bearing payment models, Medicare Advantage / Special Needs Plans, or chronic disease management.
  • Strong commercial mindset with proven experience driving account growth, partner-driven innovation, and supporting partnership structuring and renewals.
