Job description

Overview

Chestnut Health Systems is seeking a part-time Research Field Interviewer to support community-based research in Klamath County in Southern Oregon.

This isn't a desk job. You'll spend much of your time in the community locating and connecting with research participants, conducting interviews, collecting follow-up data, and helping individuals stay engaged throughout the study.

The work requires persistence, flexibility, strong people skills, and knowledge of the communities you'll serve. Some participants may be difficult to reach, so success means knowing how to problem-solve, build trust, and keep trying when the first approach doesn't work.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and connect with research participants in community settings.
  • Travel throughout Klamath County using your personal vehicle to locate and interview participants. Mileage reimbursement is provided.
  • Conduct research interviews in participants' homes and other appropriate community or public locations.
  • Maintain contact with participants and use creative, appropriate strategies to locate individuals who may be difficult to reach.
  • Consult with the Field Director and other Field Trackers/Interviewers regarding hard-to-find participants.
  • Complete interviews, follow-up activities, and other duties according to established data collection protocols and required timelines.
  • Help participants set up and navigate a smartphone application used as part of the research project.
  • Collect urine drug screens when required as part of follow-up data collection.
  • Provide participant transportation when needed.
  • Network with community organizations and contacts to strengthen recruitment and participant engagement.
  • Participate in regular case review meetings with the research team.
  • Receive, organize, and maintain an inventory of research supplies.
  • Meet established performance, documentation, data quality, and quality assurance standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of participant and organizational information.
  • Promote Chestnut's culture of customer service excellence in all interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Community Knowledge

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of communities and neighborhoods within Klamath County required.
  • Interest in community-based research, substance use services, behavioral health, human services, or related work is a plus.

Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to connect and build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds and life experiences.
  • Strong persistence, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while staying connected with a larger research team.
  • Ability to follow detailed research and data collection protocols accurately.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to adjust your schedule based on participant availability and project needs.
  • Comfortable using smartphones and technology and helping others learn basic applications.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and proof of current automobile insurance required.
  • Must meet agency requirements for automobile insurance coverage.
  • Reliable personal vehicle required for travel throughout the assigned service area.
  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as assigned based on participant availability.
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions, including rain, snow, heat, and cold.
  • Ability to provide participant transportation when required.
