Summary
Horizon Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at Abbeville General Hospital in Abbeville, LA. This is a 16 bed inpatient psychiatric unit treating ages 18+. Under the supervision and/or direction of the Staff Nurse or Charge Nurse, the psychiatric Licensed Vocational Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for the delivery of nursing care consistent with the treatment plan. Additionally, he/she is responsible for concise documentation for an assigned group of patients.
Job description
Responsibilities
- Restore and promote patient's health by completing the nursing process.
- Observe patients and reports/records their medical and physical condition appropriately.
- Attend to patient personal needs (oral hygiene, toileting, bathing, dressing, etc.) as required.
- Obtain patient vital signs, including pulse, blood pressure, temperature and respiration.
- As needed, and using approved methods, assist in safely placing patients in seclusion or restraints; observe suicide/seclusion precautions; including physical requirements for physical holds and safe transport of patients.
- Administer medications and/or injections as needed.
- Follow voluntary and involuntary procedure/process.
- Interpret the nursing and treatment needs of the patient to nonclinical staff assigned to the patient.
- Insure patient dignity and respect patient values. Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients, families and friends.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Active and unrestricted LPN license
- 1-3 years experience
- CPR, BLS, ACLS
