Ensures the safe and continuous flow of quality product by following approved procedures, monitoring equipment performance, completing required testing and documentation, and adjusting operating parameters within established specifications. Works collaboratively across the manufacturing line and performs both repetitive and non-repetitive tasks in a regulated environment. Adheres to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), safety and environmental requirements, quality standards, and departmental procedures while supporting site environmental objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor assigned manufacturing equipment to process lens production orders in accordance with approved procedures and specifications.
- Monitor machine performance, product quality, and process conditions; take timely corrective action within established procedures and escalate abnormalities as required.
- Perform required equipment checks, process tests, measurements, and parameter adjustments to support reliable operation and specification compliance.
- Use mathematical calculations and measuring devices to prepare equipment, verify settings, and evaluate process results.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and inspection-ready work area and complete routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance activities.
- Support continuous production flow by coordinating with team members, completing line clearance, and communicating equipment or process issues.
- Accurately complete production orders, equipment logs, charts, and system transactions; record accepted and rejected quantities and other required process information.
- Follow GMP, EHS, quality, waste-handling, and environmental requirements at all times.
Area-Specific Responsibilities
Acrylics/Lens Generation: Set up production orders on the manufacturing line and operate applicable equipment and measuring devices used to produce intraocular lenses.
PEG: Manage, use, and dispose of reagents, processing supplies, and liquid and solid waste in accordance with EHS requirements. Wash PEG fixture trays, operate the washer, and support continuous material flow through unloading and cleaning activities. Document, print, and review required production-order information, PEG sheets, ellipsometer results, plasma data, and pressure charts. Perform line clearance between PEG runs, verify equipment functionality, replace PEG, SiCl4, and H2O cylinders as trained, and clean equipment after use.
Qualifications
Education and Experience: Technical certification from an accredited institution in electronics, electricity, refrigeration, mechanics, or a related discipline. Associate degree in a technical discipline preferred. Candidates who qualify through technical certification must have at least one year of general work experience; prior experience is not required for candidates with an associate degree.
