Medical Assistant (MA) Wellness Visit

Summary
The Wellness Visit Medical Assistant (WVMA), under the supervision of a licensed practitioner, supports the first phase of a two-part Medicare Annual Wellness Visit (AWV). Following successful onsite training and competency validation, the position transitions to a primarily remote role conducting the initial visit via telehealth.
Job description
The WVMA reviews preventive care needs and quality care gaps using approved protocols, obtains and documents patient-reported medications and medical histories, documents findings in the electronic health record (EHR), and prepares patients for the second portion of the visit, which is completed in person by a Nurse Practitioner.
The WVMA is also responsible for patient outreach, scheduling, and collaborating with practitioners, Population Health, Coding, and clinic staff to improve quality outcomes, patient experience, and regulatory compliance.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Certificate from an accredited Medical Assistant program
- At least 6 months of experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
