Company overview

EPR-Technologies Inc. is a pioneering biotechnology company specializing in the development of Emergency Preservation and Resuscitation (EPR) technology, a revolutionary medical procedure designed to save lives when standard cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) fails. Founded in 2010 as a biomedical spinoff from the Safar Center for Resuscitation Research at the University of Pittsburgh, the company is dedicated to advancing the preservation of human life through rapid profound hypothermia techniques. EPR technology involves rapidly cooling trauma victims to approximately 10°C using ice-cold saline solution, effectively inducing a state of suspended animation that slows metabolism and brain activity, providing surgeons with critical additional time to perform life-saving surgical interventions. The company's vision is to establish EPR as the next standard emergency life-saving procedure following CPR failure for victims of sudden cardiac arrest and severe trauma. With ongoing clinical trials and support from the U.S. Department of Defense, EPR-Technologies is working to commercialize patented products that could significantly increase survival rates for trauma victims and cardiac arrest patients who currently have minimal chances of recovery using conventional methods.
