This role provides electrical engineering leadership across the site’s medium- and low-voltage distribution systems, emergency power infrastructure, power quality, reliability programs, facility modifications, and capital projects.
Job description
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for site electrical infrastructure, including medium-voltage distribution, substations, switchgear, transformers, generators, ATS/paralleling systems, UPS systems, and low-voltage distribution.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for electrical reliability, power quality, emergency power, system protection, and electrical safety.
- Lead complex troubleshooting and root-cause investigations involving electrical failures, voltage disturbances, protection-system operation, generator and transfer system events, and facility outages.
- Develop and maintain electrical system standards, operating procedures, failure-mode analyses, preventive maintenance strategies, and critical-spares recommendations.
- Support the planning, design, execution, commissioning, and turnover of capital projects, facility improvements, equipment installations, and expansion activities.
- Review electrical designs, specifications, studies, and contractor work to ensure compliance with applicable codes, Amgen standards, GMP expectations, and site reliability requirements.
- Lead or support arc-flash, coordination, short-circuit, load-flow, harmonics, and power-quality studies, translating results into practical site improvements.
- Partner with Operations and Maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability, reduce operational risk, and minimize manufacturing downtime.
- Provide technical oversight of electrical contractors, engineering firms, equipment vendors, and service providers.
- Support electrical safety programs, including NFPA 70E compliance, energized-work practices, lockout/tagout considerations, and incident prevention.
- Participate in site shutdown planning, outage coordination, emergency-response planning, and return-to-service activities.
- Mentor engineers and technical staff while strengthening electrical engineering capability across the site.
- Communicate technical risks, reliability priorities, project status, and investment needs clearly to site leadership.
