Summary
As a Program Director, you own a customer account implementation program end to end — from kick-off through go-live and into the ongoing customer relationship. An account program may be a single workstream or several running in parallel. Job description
What the Role Is
As a Program Director, you own a customer account implementation program end to end — from kick-off through go-live and into the ongoing customer relationship. An account program may be a single workstream or several running in parallel. You are the accountable delivery lead across all of it: the customer's primary point of contact, the owner of the plan and its risks, and the person who keeps the team coordinated and on track, building the customer's confidence along the way.
This is a hands-on role; you are close enough to the build and rollout to spot problems before they raise. Post-go-live, you continue to own the overall customer relationship — including quarterly business reviews (QBRs) and ongoing relationship management.
What You Will Be Doing
- Managing customer implementation programs end to end across your active portfolio — from a single workstream to several running in parallel
- Owning the delivery plan, achievements, dependencies, and RAID log at the program level — actively, not administratively
- Coordinating Solution Engineers, testers, Product Engineering, and, where assigned, one or more Project Managers to keep the program on track
- Acting as the primary customer contact for delivery status, risk, and critical issue throughout implementation
- Identifying where product development timelines or release scope create delivery risk — and managing that risk transparently with customers and internal teams
- Adapting delivery approach across deployment models — forward deployed, guided, and self-serve
- Closing out hypercare cleanly: lessons captured, handover documented, no lingering post-go-live noise
- Owning the customer relationship post-go-live — QBRs and ongoing relationship management
- Contributing to the delivery playbook — documenting approach, flagging gaps, helping the team learn
- Holding senior customer relationships as they navigate the product, implementation, and adoption
Skills and Experience
Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree; Minimum 7+ years of experience.
Delivery and implementation: Demonstrable track record of delivering SaaS implementations on enterprise platforms in regulated industries. Has delivered while a product was still maturing. Structured delivery field: can show a real delivery plan, a maintained RAID log, and genuine risk decisions made under pressure. Experienced running multiple concurrent implementations with different deployment models. Knows how to hold delivery quality when the environment is ambiguous and there is no established playbook to follow.
Customer and collaborator management: Has managed sophisticated customers with high governance standards — pharma, life sciences, or similarly regulated enterprise environments. Surfaces risk early and directly. Communicates delivery status, product constraints, and timeline risk honestly. Builds trust through delivery, not through reassurance.
Technical literacy: Technically literate enough to lead engineers, read a data model, and understand integration dependencies — without being an engineer. Comfortable engaging with Product Engineering on build sequencing, release scope, and configuration constraints. Understands how AI-enabled product features affect implementation sequencing and data readiness. Can identify when a product gap requires partner concern and frame it clearly for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Ways of working: Brings structure to environments that do not yet have it. Has experience demonstrating AI tooling as part of their workflow for delivery planning and project management. Comfortable contributing to process development alongside live delivery. Resilient under competing pressure from customer, commercial, and product directions simultaneously.
Non-negotiables: Has delivered SaaS implementations on enterprise platforms — not just managed projects within a vendor-delivered model. Has done it while the product was evolving, not only after it stabilized. Technical literacy is active, not passive. Has worked in pharma, life sciences, or a regulated enterprise environment.
