Summary

Comunidades Sanadoras (Healing Communities) is a two-year formation initiative of Centro Latino designed to strengthen the resilience of Latino pastors and their families across Southern California, who are ministering amid the pressures of immigration enforcement, economic instability, and intergenerational strain. The project brings together twenty pastors and their family members in an in-person learning cohort that combines instruction, mentoring, coaching, peer learning, and practical application, supported by an online learning platform and renewal mini-grants.

Job description

The Project Manager is the operational backbone of Comunidades Sanadoras. This position is responsible for the day-to-day administration and implementation of the project for the full two-year grant period, working closely with the Director and Academic Dean of Centro Latino to ensure that recruitment, cohort gatherings, mentor coordination, mini-grant distribution, and reporting to the funder proceed smoothly and on schedule. The ideal candidate is highly organized, relationally warm, comfortable working with pastors and families navigating trauma, and able to move fluidly between administrative detail and in-person project facilitation. Because this role supports pastors and families who are directly affected by immigration-related fear and family disruption, the Project Manager is expected to bring cultural sensitivity, discretion, and a pastoral posture to every interaction, while maintaining the administrative rigor required by a grant-funded project.

Essential Functions

Project Operations

  • Support the recruitment and onboarding of twenty Latino pastors and their family members (one to three per pastor), as well as four mentors/coaches, in partnership with the Director and Academic Dean.
  • Coordinate the logistics of weekly small-group gatherings organized by geographic zone across Southern California, and of monthly cohort sessions that include family members.
  • Organize site visits to exemplary ministries and coordinate the participation of guest trainers and mentors, including scheduling, materials, and follow-up communication.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for participants, mentors, and partnering churches and organizations, responding to questions and troubleshooting logistics with warmth and professionalism.
  • Support participants' onboarding to the project's online learning platform and coordinate technical troubleshooting as needed.
  • Assist facilitators and mentors in preparing session materials, agendas, and reflection tools for both pastor-focused and family-inclusive sessions.
  • Attend and help facilitate in-person project activities, including occasional evening or weekend gatherings, monthly cohort meetings, and site visits.
  • Administer pre- and post-project assessment instruments and support the collection of data for the project's participatory action research process.

Administrative Management

  • Maintain accurate participant, mentor, and partner records, including attendance, communications, and project documentation.
  • Manage the application, approval, and disbursement process for the twenty participant renewal mini-grants, in coordination with OFA.
  • Track the project budget and expenses against the approved two-year grant budget, including mentor/coach stipends, site visit costs, meals, and project supplies.
  • Prepare regular progress updates and reports for Centro Latino leadership, and support the preparation of narrative and financial reports required by the funder.
  • Coordinate meeting logistics, including venue arrangements, meals for monthly cohort gatherings, materials, and technology needs.
  • Maintain the project timeline across all phases of the grant period — participant and mentor recruitment, cohort formation, and project evaluation — flagging risks to milestones as they arise.
  • Draft and send correspondence with participants, mentors, donors, and partner ministries on behalf of Centro Latino leadership.
  • Participate in weekly Centro Latino team meetings and planning/evaluation sessions.
  • Perform other project-related administrative duties as assigned by the Director or Academic Dean of Centro Latino.

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Fully bilingual; able to read, write, comprehend, and speak both Spanish and English fluently.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience; familiarity with Latino/a church and ministry contexts strongly preferred.
  • At least two years of experience in project or project coordination, nonprofit administration, or church/ministry operations.
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple timelines and priorities across a two-year project.
  • Comfortable working with pastors and families affected by trauma, immigration-related stress, and family disruption, with sensitivity, discretion, and appropriate boundaries.
  • Effective written and verbal communicator, able to represent Centro Latino professionally with participants, mentors, donors, and community partners.
  • Technologically adept, including comfort with virtual meeting platforms, basic database or spreadsheet management, and online learning platforms.
  • Able to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally to project sites across Southern California, including occasional evening and weekend commitments.
  • Highest level of integrity, confidentiality, and cultural humility.

Position Terms and Grant Considerations

This position is funded entirely through the Comunidades Sanadoras grant award and is established for a fixed term of two years, aligned with the project's approved grant period. Continued employment in this role is contingent upon the continuation of grant funding; the position is expected to conclude at the end of the two-year grant term unless additional funding is secured to extend or convert the role. This is a part-time position at 30 hours per week; benefits eligibility, if any, will be determined according to Fuller Theological Seminary's standard policies for employees at this level of appointment. Candidates must reside in, or be willing to relocate to, the Los Angeles area, as this role requires regular in-person participation in cohort gatherings, mentor coordination, and site visits across Southern California. Reports to the Director of Centro Latino, with close coordination and accountability to the Academic Dean of Centro Latino.

Additional Remarks: Must be willing to abide by Fuller Theological Seminary's Community Standards.
