Responsibilities
The Recreation Therapist plans, organizes, and directs medically approved recreation programs for hospital patients to assist patients in developing interpersonal relationships, socializing effectively, and developing coping and stress management skills. The Recreation Therapist adapts the leisure activity program content in relation to the patients' capabilities, needs, and interests.
Arrowhead Behavioral Health is a 48-bed psychiatric hospital located in Maumee, Ohio, serving adult patients 18 years of age and older who need mental health and chemical dependency services. Inpatient offerings include treatment for drug and alcohol withdrawal management and stabilization as well as mental health crisis management. Outpatient services include partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs, a Relapse Prevention Program, and a Medication Administration Program.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy with CTRS
- Previous experience in a mental health or substance abuse treatment facility preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Diplomacy and discretion are essential
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects
- Professional demeanor and appearance required
