Job description

Role Description

The Research Associate, Microarrays & Binding Kinetics is a full-time, on-site role based in Greater Orlando. This role is responsible for designing, preparing, and optimizing microarrays for biological and chemical applications, including diagnostics, gene expression analysis, and environmental testing.

Day-to-day tasks include performing binding kinetics experiments, operating and maintaining microarray printers and related instrumentation, and analyzing data to assess assay performance and reproducibility. The Research Associate will prepare reagents and samples, follow and refine standard operating procedures, document experimental workflows, and contribute to troubleshooting and continuous improvement of microarray and sensor chip manufacturing processes.

The role also involves collaborating with senior scientists, supporting customer projects, and presenting clear summaries of findings to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Experience with assay development, and handling biological or chemical samples in a laboratory setting.
  • Knowledge of binding kinetics (e.g., association/dissociation analysis), surface chemistry, and biomolecular interactions relevant to diagnostic or sensor platforms.
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis using scientific software, with strong skills in documenting results, maintaining laboratory records, and preparing technical reports.
  • Hands-on experience operating laboratory instrumentation such as microarray printers, liquid handling systems, imaging or detection systems, and basic analytical equipment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow and improve standard operating procedures and quality guidelines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and support customer-focused projects.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Bioengineering, or related discipline) or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in diagnostics, environmental monitoring, or sensor development is beneficial; familiarity with GLP or ISO-based quality environments is a plus.
