The candidate will be expected to have experience, or a high capacity to learn, murine pneumonia models, and molecular genetic techniques including spatial transcriptomic studies, and microbiologic/mycologic laboratory techniques. The team includes the Principal Investigator and other collaborating faculty, research scientists, postdoctoral fellows, and research assistants.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, execute, and interpret research experiments
  • Learn molecular genomics techniques including single-cell RNAseq (scRNAseq), spatial transcriptomics, and other methods
  • Maintain murine models and process murine tissues for more detailed evaluation
  • Use advanced analytical chemistry techniques to define the breath volatile metabolite profile of patients with various bacterial, viral, and fungal pneumonias
  • Analyze mass spectroscopic and differential mobility spectroscopic data from laboratory experiments
  • Maintain a detailed record of experiments in a laboratory notebook
  • Independently follow detailed protocols while working closely with a wide range of lab members
  • Assist in training new Research Assistants and Postdoctoral Fellows
  • Troubleshoot problems and instruct others in highly specialized techniques
  • Investigate, create, and develop new methods and technologies for research advancements
