Summary

Biocom is the largest and most influential life sciences trade association in the U.S., and this team drives it forward in Southern California. As Sales Manager for Greater Los Angeles and Orange County, you'll own membership growth across LA and Orange counties, building genuine relationships with the founders, scientists, and executives shaping the future of biotech, medtech, and diagnostics.

Job description

This isn't a typical sales job. You're not pushing a product. You're connecting life sciences companies to a platform that genuinely helps them: cost savings through Group Purchasing, policy advocacy, workforce programs, funding and partnering resources, and events that matter. When members join, they're joining a community. Your job is to show them why.

What You'll Do

  • Build and own your pipeline. Prospect, qualify, and close new Biocom memberships, with full accountability for outreach, follow-up, and onboarding.
  • Tell a compelling story. Articulate the value of all five Biocom pillars: Policy & Advocacy, Workforce Development, Conferences & Events, Funding & Partnering, and Group Purchasing. Tailor the message to resonate with each prospect.
  • Work the room. Represent Biocom at industry events across Greater LA and Orange County, building the kind of relationships that lead to long-term membership and referrals.
  • Engage at every level. You'll hold your own with C-suite executives just as well as with HR leads, procurement teams, scientists, and BD professionals.
  • Help members find savings. Guide prospective members through our Group Purchasing contracts and identify opportunities to reduce their operating costs.
  • Hit your numbers. Own budgeted metrics for new members and revenue growth, and work with your regional team to get there.
  • Keep the data clean. Maintain timely, accurate Salesforce records and use the CRM as an active part of your sales process, not an afterthought.
  • Collaborate. Share leads, support regional initiatives, and contribute to a team that wins together.

What you Bring

  • 5–7 years in business development or consultative sales, ideally within or selling into the life sciences industry.
  • A bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field. A life sciences background is a plus; medical device or medtech experience even more so.
  • Familiarity with the Greater LA and Orange County life sciences ecosystem. You know the companies, the players, and the landscape.
  • The ability to sell ideas, not just products. You understand how to position value and build trust with sophisticated buyers.
  • Strong communication and influence skills across all organizational levels; you can adapt your message to the audience in the room.
  • Natural relationship-builder instincts. You're genuinely curious about the people and companies you work with.
  • Comfort with public speaking and representing an organization at industry events.
  • Solid organizational habits and the ability to manage a full pipeline without letting things slip.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office and Salesforce (or comparable CRM).
