Position Summary
Soufflé is unlocking a new cell type, and that work requires added hands-on support for a wide range of in vitro and in vivo experiments and analytical techniques. As a Scientist in Discovery Biology, you will drive new target discovery, working in a collaborative, matrixed environment alongside the Discovery Biology, Protein, Discovery Technology and In Vivo teams. This is a new role for someone who wants to spend most of their time at the bench generating, analyzing and presenting data that moves delivery of genetic medicines forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and analyze in vitro and in vivo pharmacology and PK/PD studies
- Establish and execute methods for cell isolation from tissues
- Establish and validate pre-clinical disease models, both internally and with CRO partners
- Support validation of new gene targets
- Maintain accurate records of experimental procedures and protocols in compliance with electronic laboratory notebook standards
What Success Looks Like
In 3 months: You have a clear understanding of your role and the team workflow, contribute to in vitro and in vivo proof-of-concept studies, show strong technical skill in a few key assays, and can design and interpret experiments.
In 6 months: You are running in vivo studies that validate targeted delivery to cells of interest and enable ligand discovery and validation.
In 12 months: You independently design and execute studies (proof-of-concept or screening), interpret the data, and present results at internal meetings with minimal guidance.
Qualifications — Required
- PhD with 0+ years of experience; or MS with 8+ years or BS with 10+ years of relevant industry experience
- Hands-on experience with primary cell isolation from animal and human tissues, and sterile cell culture (cell lines and primary human and mouse cells)
- Experience with tissue preservation and processing for downstream analysis
- RNA isolation and downstream analysis (e.g., qPCR, ddPCR)
- Histochemistry and immunostaining (IF), in situ hybridization, microscopy and basic image analysis
- Self-driven, curious, collaborative and detail-oriented, with strong analytical and communication skills
Qualifications — Preferred
- Experience in cardiovascular, lung, metabolic disease research
- Experience with targeted genetic medicines, ideally at an oligonucleotide-focused biotech or pharma company
- Animal tissue collection
- Flow cytometry and ELISA/MSD

Company overview
Soufflé Therapeutics is a pioneering biotechnology company headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, dedicated to redefining how medicines are made through the development of cell-specific nucleic acid therapeutics. Founded in 2021 by renowned MIT professors including Robert Langer, Daniel Anderson, Victor Kotelianski, and Brad Pentelute, the company emerged from stealth with over $3.5 billion in capital raised and strategic partnerships with major pharmaceutical companies including Amgen, Bayer, AbbVie, and Novo Nordisk. Soufflé's proprietary platform combines multiple technologies for identifying cell-specific receptors, optimizing ligands, and engineering potent siRNA molecules to enable precise delivery of genetic medicines across cell membranes to their intended targets. The company's initial therapeutic programs focus on skeletal muscle cells and cardiomyocytes, addressing facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD), genetically-driven cardiomyopathies targeting the phospholamban (PLN) gene, and metabolic disorders. With a $200 million Series A round led by top-tier investors including ARCH Venture Partners, Bessemer Venture Partners, and Polaris Partners, Soufflé is on track to initiate clinical trials in 2026, advancing a robust pipeline of preclinical programs across multiple therapeutic areas of significant unmet patient need.
