Job description
Our Team
Tailored Research and Development Solutions (TRS) is a small group of enthusiastic scientists within Life Sciences with backgrounds from multiple disciplines. We foster a learning and collaborative environment while focusing on serving our Pharma/Biotech customers in areas including assay development using Promega's innovative and cutting-edge technologies. We work closely with R&D to enable Promega clients.
Your Role
The TRS team works in multiple areas such as target engagement, targeted protein degradation, metabolism, cell health, and protein-protein interaction. You will receive the necessary training and be expected to act as a technical expert in multiple areas of specialization, to apply scientific knowledge to individual projects, and to execute and champion innovative projects.
Job Objective
Support Pharma/Biotech customers in drug discovery by providing Promega-enabled assay and cell line development in areas like target engagement, protein-protein interaction, metabolism, and targeted protein degradation. Act as a technical expert in multiple areas of specialization. Apply scientific leadership, project management, and troubleshooting to individual projects.
Core Duties
- Work at the bench to perform experiments using a wide variety of molecular and cellular biology techniques including, but not limited to, mammalian cell culture, transfections, molecular cloning, CRISPR, immunoblotting, and flow cytometry to develop luminescence-based protein-protein interaction assays, target engagement assays, targeted protein degradation assays, metabolism assays, and immunoassays.
- Miniaturize and validate developed assays to enable high-throughput screening using lab automation equipment.
- Take ownership of projects from kickoff to delivery, including independent experimental design and execution while maintaining timelines.
- Communicate project status and results through regular client meetings and detailed technical project reports.
- Work on several different types of projects at a time.
- Leverage artificial intelligence and advanced digital tools to accelerate experimental design, optimize assay development strategies, enhance data analysis, and improve scientific efficiency and decision-making.
- Collaborate with program managers, sales, and other business leaders on project execution.
- Demonstrate inclusion through words and actions and be accountable for a safe workspace. Act with kindness, curiosity, and respect for others.
- Embrace and be open to incorporating Promega's 6 Emotional & Social Intelligence (ESI) core principles in daily work.
- Understand and comply with ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements applicable to our business.
Key Qualifications
- PhD in a scientific discipline with 2–5 years of postgraduate experience in drug discovery programs or industrial R&D.
- Proficient with automation equipment; familiarity with assay development in small titer format, high-throughput screening, validation/counterscreening, and assay transfer workflows is a plus.
- Proficient with Microsoft applications and graphing software.
- Quick to adopt emerging technologies, including AI, to improve efficiency and cross-functional collaboration.
Physical Demands
- Ability to work at a lab bench or fume hood for extended periods.
- Ability to wear protective gear (gloves, lab coat, safety glasses, etc.).
- Ability to operate a computer.
