Summary

Are you a graduate student seeking a meaningful clinical internship where you can build your skills, receive exceptional supervision, and make a lasting impact in the lives of others? Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is seeking a Master's-level Student Intern to join our RESET Recovery and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) team. Our diverse and compassionate team is dedicated to meeting clients where they are, delivering culturally responsive care that fosters hope, healing, and long-term recovery.

Job description

As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience providing individual and group therapy to adults and adolescents navigating substance use and co-occurring mental health challenges at various stages of recovery. Working within a harm-reduction and client-centered framework, you will develop and strengthen your clinical skills while helping clients build insight, resilience, and meaningful change. Through ongoing clinical supervision, mentorship, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, you'll have the opportunity to connect theory to practice while contributing to healing and recovery within the community.

The ideal candidate is a Master's-level Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work student who is passionate about behavioral health and eager to develop their clinical skills in a supportive setting. We are looking for someone who embraces trauma-informed and harm-reduction approaches, values cultural humility, welcomes feedback, and believes recovery is a collaborative and individualized journey. Candidates with prior practicum experience are preferred, and a genuine interest in working with individuals experiencing co-occurring mental health and substance use challenges is essential.

This internship runs from January 2027 through August 2027 and offers a flexible schedule of 16-20 hours per week, Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. This is a fully onsite opportunity that provides immersive clinical training and meaningful client engagement.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Master's-level program for Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work
  • Required annual influenza vaccination
  • Required negative TB test result
  • Interest in co-occurring mental health and substance use challenges
  • Prior practicum experience preferred
