Summary

The Electronic Systems Laboratory (ELSYS) is currently seeking a Student Intern in the Test Engineering Division (TEN) for the Spring 2027 semester.

Job description

Test Engineering Division (TEN) provides Test and Evaluation (T&E) capability for Electronic Warfare (EW), Avionics, and Radar Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) test systems. These systems provide high fidelity simulation and stimulation of real-time Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR), Radio Frequency (RF), and Avionics environments for testing EW, Avionics and Radar systems that are used to protect aircraft from ground and airborne threats.

This broad range of research will provide a solid foundation for the student as a future software engineer. The student will work under the guidance of GTRI researchers performing research and development in one of the following areas:

  • Sensing and processing broad bands of the electromagnetic spectrum
  • Creating a complex electromagnetic environment used to test Aircraft Protection systems
  • Controlling and configuring HITL test stations
  • Using Machine Learning and/or data science for data analysis applications

The student researcher will perform one or more of the following activities:

  • Design, code, and debug Windows software, embedded systems software, or web technologies for electronic warfare or radar systems test applications
  • Conduct testing of Windows application software, embedded systems software, or web technologies
  • Develop software test tools
  • Assist with conducting trade studies, writing technical reports, and writing and conducting tests

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related
  • 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Must be registered for Full-time Internship Credit
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance
  • Experience in more than 1 programming language
